Things to do in Split for a Mostar day trip
5 to 4 hours each way, versus about 3 hours from Dubrovnik, before any stop at Kravice or Blagaj. The crossing out of Croatia is a full passport check, not a wave-through, since Bosnia-Herzegovina is outside the EU and outside the Schengen area.
A day tour booked from Split typically runs from early morning (around 7am departure) to late evening, which leaves less slack for delays at the border than a Dubrovnik itinerary has.
Split's own attractions, including Diocletian's Palace, are outside this page's scope: this is only about using Split as a base for the Herzegovina side trip, and about the extra hours that decision costs compared with the shorter Adriatic gateways.
