Things to do in Blagaj
Blagaj sits about 12 kilometres south of Mostar, a 15 to 20 minute drive or a cheap local bus ride, so most visitors treat it as a half-day add-on rather than an overnight stop.
The village itself is worth slowing down for before heading to the tekija: a cluster of Ottoman-era stone houses with wooden balconies, pressed against a sheer limestone cliff that rises straight out of the karst landscape typical of Herzegovina.
A row of riverside restaurants lines the water, serving trout pulled from the same current, with outdoor seating that stays shaded and noticeably cooler than Mostar's old town in the July and August heat. Parking near the entrance costs a few KM, and the walk from the car park into the village takes only a few minutes on flat ground.
